Team Huddle Hands

FLASH is working hard to organize to encourage City Council to support a new Community Cultural Center, and this is how you can help:

Email:

Please email the City Council and tell them you support the development of a Community Cultural Center in Louisville and why it matters to you and your family.

When you reach out, you might mention:

  • Any arts organization you are involved with, whether as a patron, board member, employee, neighbor, etc.

  • The specific need for more spaces for arts, culture, and community events and why (lack of availability, location, outdated equipment, space limitations, etc.)

  • How it would benefit you and your family (i.e. local classes

  • The long-term value this brings to Louisville’s quality of life

Personal messages make the biggest impact, even if they’re short and simple.

Sample Public Comment:

My Name is Leah F. and I live in Louisville. I’m here tonight to express my strong support for creating a new Community Cultural Center in our city.

Right now, many of the programs that enrich families — arts classes, cultural events, youth workshops, and community gatherings — require us to travel outside our immediate area. A cultural center close to home would make a real difference for my family by giving us access to affordable programming within our own neighborhood.

But this isn’t just about convenience. A community cultural center would provide a safe, welcoming place for children after school, a space for families to connect, and opportunities for residents of all ages to learn about different cultures, traditions, and creative arts. It would strengthen relationships between neighbors and build a stronger sense of belonging in our city.

Communities that invest in cultural spaces see long-term benefits.

I respectfully urge the council to prioritize funding and planning for a community cultural center so families like mine can access enriching, affordable programs close to where we live.

Thank you for your time and your service to our community.
